Artwork: Submit only three images at a time. We publish drawings, paintings, comics, and photographs. From Issue 8 we will also be accepting work in colour. Most of the work we feature, though, is still in black and white.
If you do not receive a response by the time we announce the publication
of the relevant issue, your submission has not been successful. If we like your work but are unable to publish your current submission, we will get in touch and ask you to send us more examples of your work. We sincerely wish we had the human resources to provide a more personal response, as well as more detailed feedback.
We rely on your work to keep Chroma diverse and exciting. Please keep sending us your poems, short stories, novel extracts, non-fiction and artwork.
Chroma is published twice a year. We accept submissions from all people who identify as queer, regardless of sex and sexuality. For a definition of queer, please click here.
Each issue is themed - click here to view future themes.
Prose: Please submit only one story at a time. Prose must be double-spaced and ideally in Arial font. No previously published material is accepted. Stories: 2,500 - 5,000 words. We're looking for fiction, memoir and essays that experiment and take thematic and stylistic risks, that emphasise writing style over content, that have a distinct individual voice, and that favour character over plot.
Shortlist: Short Stories
Poetry: Please submit only three poems at a time. Up to 50 lines.
